Show Up - episode 53
What if you could find out some new things about a loved one and they could find out some new things about you. Well that is what we are doing this month. We are featuring a collection of mothers and daughters who answer questions about the other and then we compare notes. It makes for light-hearted fun along with a chance to go a little deeper in sharing a memory or two. Today’s guests are Therese and Siena.
We love people, we know them well, and yet there is still more to be discovered. We learned much in this episode with Therese and Siena starting with the importance of showing up. Then reminiscing, thinking about how you see the other person, putting yourself in their shoes, and the sharing of thoughts made for a very enjoyable, deeply satisfying format. Here is to the complex, wonderful world of mother-daughter relationships. Words are not enough to express the unconditional love that exists between a mother and daughter. — Caitlin Houston
Classy
Thoughts on Show Up
What came up for me in having a conversation with Therese and Siena, is they are both classy amongst other things.
classy - stylish; with panache. Chic and dashing come up as synonyms. And if you look up panache you get these great words: flair, flourish, style, verve.
I love every single one of these words and can think of many women (and men) for whom these adjectives can easily be applied. They are attractive qualities that sometimes feel like they were more readily available in days gone by. Are we born with it? Do we cultivate it? Do we emulate it? Do we choose it? Like most things it’s a combination of factors. Do we even want it? And if we don’t, why not?
This one really stuck with me because I think it is something we have lost as a culture. We have gone a step beyond being real and stepped into an un-classy vibe that says, It ain’t no thing. Well, it is. If you have the choice to be uplifting, positive, fully you, without having to resort to actions and language that are anything but, why not hedge your bets by requiring a bit more self-discipline? You can still be you and I would say a better, the best version of you that is possible.
Today, short and sweet. The point has been made.
Go ahead and try it. Be classy. Let me know what you think.
