The Dealer of Hope - episode 47

I’m still trying to figure out how today’s guest, Bekah, has been able to learn so much in her 40 years!  She shares wisdom seamlessly, sprinkling our conversation with these truth nuggets that kept me in a state of suspended amazement.  I think we barely scratched the surface and I suspect there is ample teaching Bekah could do that we would all benefit from.  Hopefully there is more to come.

Don’t you think Bekah should write a book?  I sure do!  A few of my takeaways: from victim to victorious, the option to choose joy, forgiveness means you are no longer responsible for my healing, and the issues are in the tissues.  Bekah has a drive for health and wellness and she wants to educate others with what she’s learned.  We can incorporate these takeaways into our life, our thinking, our feeling, today.  There is goodness to be gained from being ourselves and sharing who we are with the world. ♥️

Friend. Observant. Wise.

COVID Goodness

Thoughts from The Dealer of Hope

One of the strong themes to come out of the conversation with Bekah is her ability to choose joy and she credits her sister Brandi for sharing that philosophy with her. I’ve seen the slogan on shirts, plates, etc. so it is clearly something that is catching on. We have a choice and we need to keep that in mind especially in the hardest of times. Like Covid. Covid is rough. It’s unlike anything most of us have been through. It’s new. It’s lasting long. It’s unknown. People have died. Front liners are overworked and tired. Many are alone. It’s a challenge to capture and maintain wellness right now.

But if we follow the choose joy philosophy we can do our best. Is this a challenge right now? You bet. We can’t always change our circumstances but we can change how we look at them. I’ve noticed many people choosing joy by being aware of others, doing small acts of kindness that make a difference, doing what we can, where we can. It all adds up.

Another thing I’ve noticed is how many have added joy into their lives by getting what is now being referred to as a “Covid puppy” or pet). Adoptions and sales have soared and many animal shelters don’t have enough dogs. Wow! What a good problem to have. And this is what I mean by titling this blog, Covid Goodness.

I’ve written about our last dog Callie in a previous blog. It’s been 13 months since we said goodbye. We didn’t think we would get another dog. And yet, through these many months of missing her, we made the decision to choose joy once again.

Introducing Layla Sunshine. (Layla for the deeply moving instrumental part of the song Layla by Eric Clapton - one of my top ten. And we have a tradition of using the mother’s name as the second name.) I know, this makes her sound like a hippy dog. Maybe she will be. ☮️

Welcome, Layla Sunshine. ☀️

You can always find hope in a dog’s eyes.
