Circumstances Beyond My Control - episode 197

You start out with a vision.  The vision is grand because, why not?  You are in your mind.  Once you work to make it a reality, things likely shift.  This was true for T-Bone Rube, this week’s guest in our Surrender series.  He had an idea to create a spectacular show during the holidays with gifted performers, merry music and then book that in Manhattan.  Yet circumstances were beyond his control.

Slowly things changed and it was clear this was not going to turn out to be what T-Bone created in his mind.  He had to decrease the scale of the show to fit realistic expectations, some of the cast had to drop the show for a variety of different reasons, and there was not an ample amount of advance ticket sales.  So what did he do?  He surrendered to what was, and ended up doing an acoustic one-man show. And, it was good.

He has been on the show before in Frankie Valli is his Biggest Inspiration episode 144.

Destino Rubiani, aka T-Bone Rube talks about a time he had to surrender because of circumstances and how he made the best out of it

Keep going.  Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

How Did This Happen?

Thoughts from Circumstances Beyond My Control

For me it’s rather easy to think of circumstances beyond my control. Today I tested positive for COVID. What?! I had heard of people having it “out there” but it seemed so far away, not like it could penetrate my little world. Yet it did. And I do wonder, how did this happen? I don’t know anyone right now who has it, not even anyone in my extended circle, and that’s usually when I really get extra focused on staying healthy. Yes, I had a busy week last week, and I followed the various recommended things to do…wash hands, keep fingers out of mucus membranes, use a mask at doctor’s offices, etc. I’ve had a fever, some aches, and felt like doggy-do for sure, but figured it was a mildish head cold. I honestly only tested as an afterthought, simply so I could tell Ron I did not have COVID. How wrong I was.

So today’s blog will be on the short side. Apparently I’ve got lots of resting, and liquids, in my near future. And as Taylor said, Mom you don’t look good. Ha! She’s right.

Yes, Rona came for a visit - a most unwelcome guest.
