Every Word You Speak has Power - Part 2 (episode 275-2)

We continue our conversation, Part 2 with Wilma Hollis for Spicy Christian Women - Becoming All that and a Bag of Chips.

It starts early in life, the things we are drawn to. “Growing up, who did you look up to?”

“I looked up to people who told the truth. I looked up to, the pastor that I had growing up. I looked up to a journalist.

I looked up to people who defended you know someone who would say, that was wrong, you shouldn't have done that. We don't have enough of that now.”

What do women need right now?

“Our role as the primary nurturers doesn't change just because the times change. If anything, there's a… there's more of a demand on our need to nurture. There's more of a demand to make the kids feel safe, to help, you know, people in your world feel like everything's gonna be okay. And so, in these times, it's so important that we nurture others, that's still… that's still necessary, but also make sure that we nurture ourselves.”

Yes, that.

Wilma has been on the podcast before in Seek it and Speak It episode 226 and Your Life Speaks to You episode 179.

Clinging to Hope

Thoughts from Every Word You Speak has Power - Part 2 (episode 275)

Wilma is a woman of faith. It’s obvious to anyone who already knows her, to those who follow her on social media, and honestly anyone who comes in contact with her. She embodies her beliefs without reservation. I appreciate how she shows up and is positive, always leading with love. Of course she’s had her own set of challenges as we all do. But she knows God will work things for good.

That brings me to a recent writing that I will include here. Remember the response writing I’ve shared previously? You write a letter to God and include the response you’d like to hear. You get to decide if it’s all you, divine or a combination. I just know I find it very edifying.

Dear Lord,
We know that you cause all things to work for good. You take what has been painful (derived from a broken world, the forces of evil, our own choices, or for your purposes) and you bring healing, restoration, goodness as only you can. We won’t always know the origin of the heartbreak, the root of it, but we know that you will apply love, and goodness will grow. Thank you.

~ Rechelle

Dear Rechelle,

Everyone is called but not everyone answers. I love everyone but not everyone loves me. This is the price of free will. I honor that choice and I will continue to cause things to work for good. It’s who I Am.

And there it is in a nutshell. God doing what only he can do. We need that right now in this world that is becoming increasingly divisive and polarized, the very opposite of love. I lament these times but I must also cling to hope. For me there is no other way. How about for you?

Can I get an amen?

“So be it.”
