Walking Off a Cliff - Episode 26
In memory of Celeste* who changed us for the better.
Amy is a fun-loving woman, and by her own admission, a force to be reckoned with. To get a peek into how different she lived her first 37 years to how she has been living the past 10 is worth paying attention to. Being open to how life is unfolding, saying yes when nudged, is how she is living out her faith. She calls this latest time we live in, the year of the pivot. I just love how she explains it and I am adopting the same mind set now too. Enjoy learning more about Amy and how she walked off the cliff. Maybe you will see a bit of yourself in her or maybe you will be reminded to remember, there is no perfect.
She Makes Me Better
Thoughts from Walking Off a Cliff
When you have someone like Amy in your life you realize they actually make you better. I think this might be a good temperature-reading of the people we choose to have in our lives. Do they make you better? Do you make them better? The second question is harder to answer but the first one shouldn’t be. The people who make you better are helping you be more fully you than you could be without them.
*Celeste also did that for us as a group on the mountain when we were at a retreat. (In fact she was my roommate.) And although we didn’t really know her previously she fit right in. We quickly and easily knit together as a group, a group of varied ages, backgrounds and experiences.
I hope you are the Amy or Celeste to someone else. It is an honor to be there for each other. And if you check and find that you are not, that’s ok. It’s not too late to start.
The picture below is of Celeste after Amy baptized her in the lake. The lyrics I thought were just too perfect to go with what I am trying to convey. They are from the musical Wicked and it’s taken from the song, I Have Been Changed for Good. Rest In peace, sweet Celeste.
