Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe & Joey: Their Enneagram Numbers - Episode 17

As Erin explains in this episode, the Enneagram can be a useful tool to help you understand the why of who you are. To make it fun she used the cast of Friends to go through the numbers and added a few other notable people to make up the nine different personality types. What’s your number? See if you can tell as you go through and by all means, if you are interested in learning more, take an assessment.

This gives you insight into why you do what you do; you can pivot knowing these things about yourself.

Geeking Out on the Enneagram

Thoughts from Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe & Joey: Their Enneagram Numbers

Erin used this expression a few times during our conversations, Geeking out on the Enneagram. Finding out your number, or numbers in some cases, leaves a blend of intrigue, affirmation, wondering, curiosity, “uh-oh” and a thirst for further info. Hence wanting to “geek out.” I get it. You find out about your strengths but also your weaknesses too. (That’s where the “uh-oh” comes in.)

Over the past couple of years I heard a couple of talks on the Enneagram, took an online assessment, then heeded Erin’s advice to go to https://www.yourenneagramcoach.com for their online free test. What I liked about theirs was it broke down all nine types by percentages according to how you answered the questions. As Erin shared we have all nine types within us and some are more dominant than others. (And while I think things could vary somewhat depending on the day/time you take it, I’m going to bet you basically come out more or less the same each time.)

I’ll share some of my findings so you can see how they break it down. And even though I have two equal numbers, the assessment determined I skewed more toward a “one.” Surprising? Nope, not at all.

The Enneagram does not put you in a box. It shows you the box you’re already in and how to get out of it.

KEY MOTIVATIONS.png

The Enneagram tells it “like it is.”

And our healing and maturing always begin with acknowledging what’s there.

What drives a Type 1s to think, feel, and.png

If we observe ourselves truthfully and non-judgmentally, seeing the mechanisms of our personality in action, we can wake up, and our lives can be a miraculous unfolding of beauty and joy.

— Don Richard Riso

YOUR OTHER TYPE RESULTS.png

The Enneagram doesn’t tell us who we are…but how we have LIMITED who we are.

— Unknown

A few of Erin’s caveats - great to remember:

  1. You can be one number at work and a different number at home.

  2. Not useful if you weaponize it.

  3. A lot of mistyping going on.  Each person needs to take it for themselves.

Thus concludes our dive into the Enneagram. Maybe you learned something about yourself that will help you be even more unabashed than before. Here’s to hoping! Go BE YOU…
